EXPOSING THE LIES - DAVID BARTON- Dominionism/Seven Mountain Mandate/NAR
After receiving a bachelor's degree in religious education from Oral Roberts University in 1976, Barton worked for a time as a pastor and schoolteacher. In the late 1980s, he began building a following among evangelicals and Republicans by tirelessly speaking on America's founding at churches and political conferences.
According to some people David Barton is the nation’s foremost Christian historian. However, here are a few red flags that should steer us completely away from him and his work…
He claims to have played basketball for Oral Roberts University, but the institution categorically denies this. (https://www.wthrockmorton.com/2015/02/25/oral-roberts-university-there-is-no-record-of-david-barton-ever-playing-basketball-for-oru/)
He has a program entitled “America’s Hidden History” that airs on TBN. Besides its regular lineup of heretical programming TBN has just added new programs based on Joel Osteen’s book, “Your Best Life Now,” and Bethel church’s (Bill Johnson) worship and teaching. Barton’s book, “The Jefferson Lies,” was pulled from publication due to “embarrassing factual errors, suspiciously selective quotes, and highly misleading claims.” (https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justin-taylor/thomas-nelson-ceases-publication-of-david-bartons-error-ridden-book-on-jeffersons-faith/).
David Barton promotes the Seven Mountain Mandate false teaching that is part of Dominion Theology. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-XByyvgqhM)
David Barton is quite ecumenical and this link details many activities that demonstrate this:
He is the founder of Wallbuilders, a think tank devoted to promulgating the narrative that America was founded as a specifically Christian nation, and that the Founding Fathers were “orthodox, evangelical” Christians. In fact, the majority of the Founding Fathers had more complicated religious views, often blending aspects of Christianity with deism, the Enlightenment-era belief in an unknowable creator-deity who did not operate in human affairs. Besides being deists several were Masons as these two videos explain: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRy-nGp_WTM&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR2tu2yvlLUFxwwiZc2kgY847jsF32CC98Cv-YWe9lEhS8eygZ16yMeYmqw) and (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbiL61qTu5c)
